We are moving our web site to a new system and platform so all updates here are frozen for a short time. 

Music Library Finland is now "twittering" and we plan to provide updates to the web site and other news highlighted on that social media alerting tool.

In the future, we also plan to set up separate Twitter feeds for our electronic catalogues, so new entries can be instantaneously seen to boot. But first we must run before we can walk. There is a lot of development to do for the new web site yet.

We've had some website problems recently and these are under investigation. Our apologies in advance. If you see something not working please do get in touch to alert us!  

Well the promised online database has been somewhat delayed, thanks to a developer who promised a lot, delayed a lot, and it came to nowt.

We have a new developer on board who has, in conjunction with a new systems administrator, migrated the site to a new platform and made it more stable (touch wood) and work is now ongoing on a new system to hopefully start getting our collection visible online.

Luckily, there are no complaints about our internal database which is doing sterling work and proof that some contracted out services can and do work very well indeed.

In the meantime, work is ongoing to catalogue items and circa 8000 books and non recorded items along with about 25000 recordings are now catalogued - and still the pile of boxes and uncatalogued shelves seem to be undiminished.

We are also planning a new "news feed" with information more related to the cataloguing side of things, showing known faults and issues and once we get everything "up" we hope also that visitors can provide some QA.  Music Library FInland does not have the resources that many universities and institutions have and thus we rely a lot on volunteer craft. And unfortunately volunteers and experts can and do make cataloguing mistakes, new information comes to hand that was not there at the start, etc etc.

But let's crawl before we walk or run a marathon !

Many updates and translations are on hold pending this new public catalogue as we want to integrate it tightly into the site. So many things therefore have red flags on them for now.
